Periodic Table [Chromium 6]
This site-specific commission was exhibited as part of About 100 Experiments in Birr Union Workhouse, a semi-derelict building on the outskirts of Birr. Through dialogue and self directed research the focus for this project was the pollution of farmland with Chromium 6, a carcinogenic toxin, by a local company, T&J Standish Sawmills. The resulting work was a print and drawing based installation incorporating the layout of a periodic table overlaid with mapped areas of the surrounding locality. The element chromium was deliberately chosen as the location for the controversial saw-mill.
